The Apes of Wrath (also known as Team 668) is a FIRST robotics team from Pioneer High School in San Jose, California. Ever since 2001, we strove to inspire students with passions in STEM by participating in annual FIRST Robotics Competitions, which provide hands-on experience on the field. We instill our love for robotics throughout our community by performing outreach for younger students and motivating them to pursue a career in STEM.

FIRST Robotics Competition

FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology

FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. The not-for-profit public charity designs innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.

Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team brand, hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors in the FIRST Robotics Competition.

FIRST OUTREACH

Apes of Wrath members are very active members of the FIRST community. Each year, team members go to local schools and organizations to help with FIRST Lego League(FLL) and FIRST Tech Competition(FTC) teams. We contribute both time and funding to the teams to ensure that they receive a great experience from the FIRST robotics organization. This ensures the continuation of FIRST robotics in our local community by getting younger students involved in the fun and exciting nature of FIRST Robotics.
